Indonesia: Stricter regulation on fruit and vegetable imports

Description

The Agriculture Minister's Regulation No. 27/2009 on fruit and vegetable imports entered into force on 19 November 2009. The new regulation helps to prevent imports of fruits and vegetables potentially carrying hazardous chemical residues. Importers are now obliged to attach certification letters mentioning the imported fruits and vegetables do not contain dangerous chemicals as regulated by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
