India: Measures concerning cotton yarn exports

Description

In April 2010, the government of India imposed  a range of measures targeting exports of cotton yarn. These include:

  • a registration requirement for exports of cotton yarn. From 9 April 2010, exports of cotton yarn have to be registered with the Textile Commissioner prior to shipment. Shipments are only granted customs clearance once the registration of the contract has been confirmed by the Commissioner,
  • a suspension of the DEPB benefit available for exporters of this product from 21 April 2010,
  • a suspension of the duty drawback scheme from 29 April 2010.
