China: Modification of tariff schedule for foreign trade (Tariff Execution Plan 2010)

Description

 On December 8, 2009 the Ministry of Commerce of China announced its Tariff Execution Plan 2010, which modifies its exports and imports regulations as of January 1, 2010. Changes concern the MFN tariff rates (in line with China's WTO obligations), temporary tariffs and special preferential tariffs as well as product coverage of tariffs. 
 
In comparison to 2008, where 7868 products had import or export tariffs applicable to them, number of tariff lines increases in 2009 to 7923. The overalll tariff level will rise to 9.8%. 
 
Customs quota management will continue for agricultural products such as wheat, corn, grain, rice, sugar, wool, wool tops, cotton and three fertilisers.
