Bolivia: Nationalisation of TDE

Description

On 1 May 2012, the government of Bolivia announced the nationalisation of TDE, a utility operating three quarters of the Bolivian energy grid. The company had been privatised in 1997 and changed ownership to the Spanish Red Eléctrica de Espana (REE) in 2002. A compensation payment shall be settled by an independent commission within 180 days of the expropriation.
