Algeria: Rules for the import and export of pesticides

Description

In a decree published in the Journal Officiel de la Republique Algerienne No. 09 on 3 February 2010, the following rules for the import and export of agricultural products were established:

i) The importation of pesticides is carried out by licensed importers in accordance with existing rules.

ii)The importer of pesticides for agricultural use will be required to source from manufacturers and/or

companies accredited in their country of origin as competent.

iii) The import of pesticides is prohibited in cases where the product is not registered in the country of origin.

iv) Exports of pesticides for agricultural use is subject to compliance review inspection.

v) Without prejudice to Article 23 Executive Decree No. 95-405 of 9 Rajab 1416 corresponding to December 2, 1995, the abovementioned pesticides for agricultural use must be imported accompanied by the certificate of analysis corresponding to each batch showing that the product meets requirements that prevails in Algeria, issued by a laboratory approved by the authorities in the
country of origin.
