Financial Crisis and Banking Sectors’ Coping Mechanisms: Evidence from Ghana and Nigeria
Anecdotal evidence suggests that the success of government policies to stabilise the banking systems of West Africa has varied. GTA Analytical Paper No.6 will examine precisely what steps governments took, whether discrimination against foreign commercial interests was a necessary part of a successful formula for stabilisation, and in general assess the effectiveness of measures taken in Nigeria and Ghana.
